I really wanted to use the Colorblock Gifts stamps to create both birthday and Christmas cards at the same time – you could of course change up the colors, but I really liked the colors I found and thought they work for both occasions.
I stamped out a whole bunch of backgrounds at the same time, changing up the colors so there were as few places as possible with two gifts of the same color next to each other. I also made sure the edges of the gifts lined up to create one big rectangle and equal distance from the edge of the card.
Once I had stamped all the gifts, I began stamping all the strings and bows using black ink to tie the background together more.
To keep the cards simple and easy to make, I thought the various Big sentiments would look beautiful on the Colorblock Gifts background. For my cards here I used Big Oh So Jolly, Big Merry and Bright and finally Big Happy Birthday. I cut each of the sentiments from matte gold cardstock and popped them up on the card using some foam squares.
For the holiday cards I decided to add a small sentiment strip below the Big sentiment. For this I used Holiday Messages stamps and Sentiment Strip dies.
