The new Peony Bouquet stamps are so beautiful all on their own, that they actually don’t need any coloring. I thought I would keep this project really simple by keeping the coloring to a minimum and create a grey toned project with the gold Big Birthday Wishes as the pop of color.
I started by cutting out a Money Envelope from grey cardstock and put it together. I am going to use this as my “card base” as I always seem to need ways to give gift cards or money for birthdays.
Then I stamped the gorgeous Peony Bouquet on on a piece of white cardstock cut down to fit the envelope so there would be a border around it. I you could leave it like that, as the line work on the flowers pretty much add the depth without any coloring being done. I chose to add a tiny bit of light grey copic coloring following the shading lines already on the flowers.
I cut the Big Birthday Wishes from gold cardstock and then the white stamped panel, making sure to keep all the “little” pieces inside the letters. I added the white panel to the envelope with foam tape, laying in the gold letters directly on the envelope, then adding all the little bits inside the letters with more foam tape. This makes the white panel stand out from the words in a fun and different way than if I had popped the words up.
As a fun final touch, I cut some of the little butterflies from Slim Window Dressings from vellum and drew a line down the center with a gold gel pen. I added these to the card using glue down the center line, making sure the wings pop up from the white panel.
