I love the Grid Cover dies as you can do so many things with them – but rather than create a shaker card for the adorable bear from Up With Love, which was my first thought, I figured I would use my sequins differently and pretty much create “Sequin paper” for behind the Heart Grid Cover.
I started by stamping, coloring and cutting out the image and sentiment. Keeping it to just a single image allowed me to spend more time on a fun background.
I cut out the Heart Grid Cover and placed it on top of my card base without gluing it down, which allowed me to inlay the hearts using repositionable adhesive. Then I removed the grid and drew around each heart, making sure I left a little space between the heart and the line.
Then I removed the hearts and simply started adding sequins inside the lines I drew. Since the lines made the heart slightly bigger, I knew I wouldn’t have any blank spaces when I added my Heart Grid on top. I also made sure I had room in between the sequins to add foam squares to pop up the Heart Grid.
Before I glued down the Heart Grid, I cut off the edges at the stitching line.
Then all I needed to do was add the bear and sentiment using more foam squares.
